Fitness Goals

My fitness goals for the 12WBT were:

1month:  Run to the end of the beach
3 month: Be able to run back again

Well I got my 1 month goal on the 1st October & today I got my 12 week goal.  I would have done a happy dance if I had have had the energy!  32 mins it took me & it is around 4.6km.  Need to start thinking of some new goals.  I think since the beach is nice & convenient I will just start to do a second lap.

Weight wise, my scales were playing up last week.  I jumped on the scales on Tuesday (bad I know!) & it showed a 0.8kg loss, so I worked my butt of to try to get to the 1kg, then the next day is only said 100g loss.  So after lunch I jumped on again & they then said I was lighter so I didn't know what was going on.  On Thursday I cleaned the bottom pads of the scales & put new batteries in & it once again said 0.8kg loss so that is what I recorded as my loss for the week.  No jumping on the scales early this week I will wait for Wednesday but lets hope I can get 1kg or more!

This weeks menu looks so yummy but I am not going to have a chance to drive up to the supermarket until Friday :(  Today we have pre-kinder, tomorrow the car is being serviced (cost me over $500 last week for new tyres) then Wednesday we have a rental inspection (good news is that we have a contract of sale on our house up in Hobart so can start building down here soon!) Thursday is the official opening of my Daughters new classroom (I may be able to go after this & the girls stay at school with Hubby until I get back) then its Friday!  It has been the only time I have regretted living 100kms from a decent supermarket!  I will just re-jig the menus for what I have (or can get locally) & do this weeks menu next week!

Second Weigh In

Wow how slack have I become with my blog!!  I will try to rectify it but for now here is a recap since I last posted.

This Weeks weigh 97.3kg
So loss during the program 2.5kg
Weight loss since signing up for pre-season 4.7kg.

We had more storms this week so the beach has been out for early morning exercising.  So I ended up sleeping in a bit longer.  I have now learnt that this is a BAD mistake!!  I felt so lethargic during the day & basically became lazy.  It took all of my effort to drag my sorry butt out to my carport to exercise on my Cross Trainer.  But I did manage to get through the workouts which each time included extra time on the cross trainer.  Last night I went for a walk along the beach to make up for my slackness earlier in the week.
Today I decided that even though its a stretching day I was getting up to go for a jog along the beach.  Well I am very happy to report that I made it to the end of the beach (2.3-2.5km) non-stop for the very first time!!!!!  This was my 4 week goal so I am stoked I have managed it already.  Now I will just work on getting my 16min time down a bit then I will start on trying to run back as well.

Well its off to do the fun of the housework for the day (not!!) enjoy the weekend everyone & Go the Saints!

First Weigh In

I lost 0.8kg!  I was stoked then read what some others lost & started feeling like I hadn't done enough.  But then talked my self back around!  I have been keeping under 1200 calories & My exercise calories burnt were 860 on Monday & 630 Tuesday so I know I was good!  Still plenty of time to lose more.  Plus now it makes it a nicely rounded 3kgs since I signed up!

I went for a run on the beach today & I got to my next running goal.  It was only another 100m but now I can run 1.1km on the beach before stopping.  I can run a bit further on the road.  I walked for probably another 400m then ran another 400m.  Walked the whole way back!  450 calories gone in that effort.

Then I met up with some other Mum's for our Wednesday Morning Walk.  We walked along a 2km coastal bush track to the Port Arthur Historic site, we found a spot to sit for morning tea then a wander around before walking back.  I was going to count this as incidental exercise so I didn't put my HRM on but I wished I had now.  My just turned 4yo son decided he wasn't going to walk today so I put my back pack on my front & piggy backed him most of the way.  I was a bit beetroot coloured when we got back!! (& I must have looked sooooo stylish with the backpack on my front!!)

Who else has a Big Red Flag day on the weekend??  My husband is a mad St Kilda supporter & his best mate is a mad Collingwood Supporter so we are going to their place for a party/bbq.  I thought I would take a platter of vege sticks with some Tzaziki & Hommus Dip to cover any snacking, Then for the BBQ I might take a chicken breast or have a small steak.  Then just eat normal salad.  That should keep me within my calorie limit for the day.

Starting Stats

Here we are on Day 2.  Everything is going really well & I can't believe how filling the meals are.  Felling absolutely stuffed after my wrap today.  Thought I should share my stats (no photo sharing yet though!)

Weight:  99.8kg  (got to my first goal of being under 100 for the start of this!)
Height: 169cm

1km Time Trial:  6.57
Push ups:  21
Wall Sit:  38secs
AB Stage:  1 (very poor in this area!)
Sit & Reach:  +6cm

So that gives me a mix of Beginner & Intermediate with 1 advanced!

I worked on the beginner level today but might go up to the intermediate next week.  I did however do 25mins on the cross trainer for warm up instead of 10, thought that would help burn a few extra calories!!  620 Calories burnt today.
Yesterday I went for a jog/walk (did my fitness test + extra) early in the morning & then late morning did a kickboxing DVD.  First workout was 330 calories & Second was 530!!  Just need to keep it up for 12 weeks now!!

Pumped!!!!!

OK, So who else is pumped??  I have just spent the last hour going through the programs & recipes.  I was hanging out for the shopping list this morning but couldn't wait any longer we had to go so we could be back by 5.  So what do I do??  Call into the inlaws on the way & log on there so I could print out the shopping list.  So glad I did because I would have missed more than half the things needed.

So here I am with all of the food ready to go (OK I missed 2 items but I can get them at our small country store here) & have been through the exercise plans.  I think I might start at intermediate but will see what Mish has to say in the video on Sunday Night.

I will do my measurements & photo over the weekend.

Getting my head right!

I have been all over the place this week.  So many "bad" financial things have happened.  Normally I would reach for the comfort foods but I have been so good (although the thought of not having enough money has kept me away from the shops!).  So I have decided every time I feel down & would normally reach for food I am going to re-read one of Michelle's books that I have or re-watch one of the video messages.  I have found this week that doing either one of them has really revved me up & got me back on track.  Its taken the focus off my worries & got me rethinking of what I need to do for me & that is to lose weight.  I find them quite motivating.

The good things for the week so far are:

1.  My Crunch Time Cookbook arrived today :-)
2.  I was able to add another 1km to my bike ride.  It included a big hill.  I didn't quite make it to the top on the bike but I gave it a really good go.  Plus my time was the same as when I did my first ride & that was 1km shorter.

Not Such a good Weekend (or was it!!)

We had a fantastic weekend socially but not so good food or exercise wise!!

The weekend started on Friday with my Husbands Birthday.  He also played in His Hockey Grand Final Friday Night & won!!  So Friday during the day we needed to have a late lunch & I ordered Salt & Pepper Squid which was fine problem was I ate some of the hot chips that came with it.  The salad that was also with it consisted of half a piece of lettuce!  So we get to the Grand Final, I had a salad wrap for tea & was disgusted to see it had almost 400 calories in it!  Probably normally would have been fine but I was drinking Bacardi Breezers with it!  So we bypass the celebrating & how many breezers I consumed & we get to Saturday Morning.  We stayed at Wrest Point Casino so got up the the Breakfast Buffet.  Mmmmmm Scrambled Eggs & Bacon, then a bowl of fruit & yogurt.  In my defence I didn't eat again until 3pm.  Mainly because I was still that full!  Rest of the day was OK.
Sunday.............  We have friends staying so we tool them on a lovely bush walk to the World Heritage area of the Coal Mines at Saltwater River.  Beautiful.  Then we get home & its cheese platter time.  I had already got some Tzaziki Dip so was OKish.  The Tea I was very good & made a lovely salad but then it was Champagne & a Cowboy night cap.

I don't want to add up the calories consumed.  Today is a new day, I will exercise today & my eating will get back on track ready for kick off.  I have seen a few people talk about a last hurrah.  I wasn't going to have one but looks like it crept up on me anyway.  I will make sure I burn more than 500 calories each day now!

What a good start to the day

I was woken this morning from the sounds of my husband getting up & dressed, when I quizzed him as to what he was up to (it was 6.10 & he is not a morning person) he replied with I am following your lead & going for a run!  Since its School Holidays he didn't want to wake me until he got back so I could do my run then. But since my brother is staying I too got up & we went for a run together.  I cut another 15 seconds off my 1km time & he encouraged me to go a bit further so it was all good.  I also told he all about the pre-season tasks & my commitment & he was so good & told me that he better kick me out of bed every morning!

So now I know that I really can do it & I better do it now I have told him that I want to lose 12kg in 12 weeks!

I plan on taking the kids on a short bush walk today, its slow going so I won't be counting is as exercising.  We live in such a beautiful area & I need to make more use of the walks around me.  This one is a half hour drive away but the cliffs are spectacular.  If anyone knows Tasmania we are off to Devils Kitchen & Waterfall Bay today.

My First Loss

Not too much to report today except for my first loss!!!!  1.3kg down (even though I was scared to get on the scales!) 

Exercise wise today was not the best but I did go for a 6km bike ride & a 3km walk.  The bike ride was with my 10yo daughter.  So the ride took 10 Min's longer than normal & I burnt 100 calories less than I have been.  It was a nice ride though & my daughter really enjoyed it.  The Beach walk was with my Husband but as he is trying to get over a groin injury & be OK for his Hockey Grand final on Friday night is was a lovely leisurely sunset walk.  I suppose it was better than staying at home doing nothing!

I need to get into my morning routine of running this week.  Its school holidays here in Tassie but I will still get up early & get moving before anyone else hits the beach (don't feel so funny about running then!)

Online Shopping

Isn't that what one does on boring rainy days??  Well that's what I did today.  Firstly it was a new cable for my Sony Mp3 player, I can't charge it or transfers songs so a new one is on the way.  Secondly I ordered the Crunch Time Cookbook, then since I needed some workout DVD's & Fishpond had free postage over $49 I ordered 3 The Hollywood Trainer DVD's.  Kickboxing, Cardio & Yoga.  $59.95 later at Fishpond I closed the browser!!!!
So now there are no excuses for rainy weather & not being able to exercise, also I can't get bored once I have my Mp3 player going as I will put on some great workout songs (any suggestions??)

Not to MY Plan!

Don't you hate it when you work your day out for the next day then it all goes haywire.  I was planning a walk/jog (shuffle!) along the beach then I was going to attempt a bike ride afterwards today but we woke up to it pouring with rain!  Looks like its going to be around for a while too.  Now I only own 1 workout DVD & that is Jillian Michael's 30 day shred.  It only goes for just over 20 minutes (it kills you in that 20 mins) so I can see that I am going to need a few more for once the challenge starts!  I don't want anything to be an excuse once it starts.  I do own a cross trainer but that it currently packed away (we are renting a fully furnished house while we build & I can't fit it inside) I might have to drag that out & keep it under the porch & cover it with a tarpaulin when not in use.  Its only when a big southerly comes in that it would be a problem with rain or if it gets really windy & the salt air gets to it.  Not sure if I should risk it or not.

Anyway enough of my babbling, off to re plan my attack on the day!

Crack of Dawn

Thats the time I was up this morning - The Crack of Dawn.  OK it probably was a bit after that but I was up at 6.10 & out the door at 6.15.  I decided that the beach of a morning is the best place.  To the end & back is around 5ks.  It was beautiful & I had the whole beach to myself (well except for my dog!)  Since there was nobody around I started of jogging.  I managed about 1km before my body was screaming, that took 8mins 40.  I need to properly track to see if it is 1km but the sign on the beach says the toilet is 1km away & that is where I ran to.  I did the whole walk in 48mins (I slowed down a bit too much after my run) & burnt 360 calories.

My hockey team is playing in a final tonight so I am going up to play off th bench, since we have moved I have only played 1 game as the 1.5hr drive each way is a bit off putting especially when I have to drive back in the dark & there is so much wildlife on the roads, I don't fancy hitting a wombat!!

I am also hanging out until Thursday.  First its my Son's 4th Birthday & secondly our internet goes back to normal speed.  I haven't been able to watch the pre-season video's yet as they take too long to load so Thursday Night will be watching night & properly doing the tasks.

Creating a Habit

I am hoping that keeping this blog will keep me more accountable.  I need routine!!  I am trying to start my routing before round 3 starts so I can go in with all guns firing. 

First is exercise.  I have been bike riding 3 out of the past 4 days.  I have managed to cut 3 mins off my time each time I go out.  I think its about 6km I am riding so once I have that under control (haven't riden my bike for 10 years!) I will extend it which means hills!  I am also going to fit in a walk most days.  My aim is to do one of those exercises in the morning & the other in the afternoon.  I also have Mich's Crunch Time Book so I might start thoses exercises before Round 3 starts so I am not in for such a surprise when it starts. 

Food, I know what I should be eating, I just don't do it.  So I am going to cut down on the bad stuff & start replacing it with the good.

Scales, I am almost too scared to get on them, I know they are going to show a number I have never seen before, not even when I was pregnant.  I will build up the courage soon!

Lets hope by the time Round 3 starts I am already seeing results.

This is it.

Well this is it, no more excuses.  I am here to get healthy & lose weight.

Tonight I have signed up for Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation & I have done it for me.  Not for anyone else but me (although I am sure my husband will appreciate it).  But to back track I will take it from the beginning.

My name is Chelsea & I live on the Tasman Peninsula with my Husband & 3 Children (10,6 & nearly 4) we moved here 3 months ago from Hobart.  We made the move so we could have more time with our Children by reducing our working hours.  I had plans of Grandeur, I was going to walk the beach at our door step everyday & lose the 25kgs I needed to lose.  This was 3 months ago, yes we have made the move, yes we have reduced our working hours (I am not working at all yet!), yes we have more time for our children but NO I haven't lost any of the 25kgs, infact I have put on 6kgs!  So this is it, I don't have any excuses I AM going to lose weight & I am going to fit it in around the kids.  Mr 3yo poses problems at time as he doesn't like walking (although I have got him into walking a few k's at a time but its slow) & he is refusing to sit in a pram but I WILL get up early to exercise & I have some time when hubby gets home.  I have dusted off the bike & have started riding & boy is my bum sore!!
I am looking forward to the tasks, even more so when our internet connection gets back up to speed, damn you shaping!  Slowly trying to load the pre-season tasks at the moment.

Lets get this weight loss moving!!
